Easter Blessing
Easter Blessing

Dear Parishioners,

Holy Week this year is going to be very different from any we have known up to now, and we will all feel it. As we mark the great events that give us new life in Christ, we do so full of the concern, anxiety, fear and sadness caused by the viral pandemic. At the same time, we notice all around us much evidence of compassion and solidarity and self-sacrifice. May this time of testing somehow prove to be a time of grace for us all.

We are grateful to health professionals: doctors, nurses, diagnosticians as well as all the unseen laborers and volunteers for their sacrificial, heroic service.

We can use this difficult time to renew the practice of family prayer, specific works of mercy, especially for the elderly and the lonely, particularly those especially at risk. Daily rosary prayer can become for us a school of deep faith combined with sacrificial service to our neighbor.

For us Christians, remembering the last week of Jesus’ life is an act of hope as well as of compassion. On these days we retell the whole story of how Jesus so loved us. On Holy Thursday he gave us the Holy Eucharist; on Good Friday he died for us; and on Easter Sunday he gave us hope of eternal life through his Resurrection! As we do this in memory of him, the same compassion, forgiveness, love and healing practiced by Jesus are offered again to all present, precisely because he is risen from the dead.

The restrictions on freedom of movement and assembly necessary to combat the corona virus are particularly painful for us the faithful, because we are deprived of direct access to the Eucharist and the sacraments of the Church. However, we can spiritually connect with the Eucharistic Christ through television, radio and internet broadcasts. In our parish the Holy Triduum celebrations will be livestreamed through our parish website. Please observe these hoy days by spiritually and virtually participating in our Parish Holy Triduum celebrations.

We should view this pandemic as a time of trial and choice as we meditate on the words of Pope Francis (March 27, 2020): "This is not the time of God's judgment, but our judgment: the time of choosing what matters and what passes away, separating what is necessary from what is not. It is the time to pivot the course of life to you, Lord, and to others.”. Let us also hold in our hearts those assuring words that Juliana of Norwich (witness of the Black Death plague and patron saint of the anxious) heard in her vision of Christ Crucified from His own lips this promise: “All will be well, all will be well, all manner of things will be well.” .

Fr. Stan

A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PARISH PASTORAL AND FINANCE COUNCILS
Dear Fellow Parishioners:
We would like to encourage all of our parishioners to stay strong during this Corona virus pandemic – stay strong in your faith; stay strong in hope; and stay strong in charity. Although we cannot be together to share Mass and the Eucharist during this time of social distancing, please be assured that Father Stan and Father Marcin are spiritually close to you and that Christ the Redeemer Parish (CTR) is functioning under unprecedented circumstances.

To keep us strong in faith we can view our parish on-line Masses and other services. During this holiest of holy times, CTR will live-stream the Holy Triduum services of Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.

To keep us strong in hope, we can stay in touch with our family and friends by telephone, texting, etc.; join the devotions to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Divine Mercy, Our Lady of Fatima, Stations of the Cross, etc. on-line and/or through our own family and private prayer time; and we can stay in touch with our parish through our Parish App for all updates affecting our parish life.

To keep us strong in charity, we can make sacrificial offerings as our means allow to continue to support our parish. During this time of economic uncertainty, like many of you our parish is suffering a financial hardship. In all humility, we ask you to please financially support CTR through on-line giving, by mailing in your weekly envelopes in any amount and through your prayers.

In closing, we ask you to pray for all medical professionals and non-professionals, as well as all those unseen workers that provide all services needed during this pandemic, your fellow parishioners and all those you love. Also, keep in your prayers our priests, and pastoral staff who are called upon to give help and consolation to many during this trying time. Lastly, stay safe and as St. John Paul II so often quoted these words of Jesus: “Do not be afraid.”

In Christ,
Andy Bartushak
President of the Finance Council

Dolores Finlan
President, Parish Pastoral Council

The state of this parish report reflects the programs Christ the Redeemer offers to nourish your faith and how your sacrificial contributions help our church in its effort to become a vibrant faith community, radiating Christ.

The year of 2019 was filled with the year-long celebration of the 100th Anniversary of a Roman Catholic Parish Life in Manville --An impressive milestone and testament to the strength of our catholic communityby remembering and honoring the past of Sacred Heart and Christ the King parishes and celebrating our present and securing our future as Christ the Redeemer Parish. By creating a video that depicted 100 years of parish life in Manville, we honored those generations who dedicated their lives to building a vibrant catholic community.
